LG announced the G Flex 2, the
second iteration of its original curved G Flex. The G Flex 2 is smaller at
5.5-inches as compared to the 6-incher LG G Flex, but sports a full HD
resolution.
The LG G Flex 2 houses a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 system on chip and will be the first device to come with the the Snapdragon 810 SoC. It will have 2GHz octa-core processor. The launch version will come with 2GB of RAM and storage capacity of 16GB or 32GB. However, LG will let you expand the storage capacity via a microSD card. It will run a forked version of the Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The LG G Flex 2 sports a full HD display and it comes with a customised glass cover that is said to be 20 per cent more durable than the Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Even the back of the phone has been made using special self-healing coating. LG claims that there is a massive improvement in the heal time from 3 minutes to around 10 seconds at room temperature.
The screen is curved at a 700mm radius which brings the microphone closer to your mouth. The back is curved to 650mm radius to it fits easily in your hands or in your pocket.
On the camera front, you get a 13MP rear camera with laser auto-focus and advanced optical image stabilisation. You have a dual-LED flash unit on the rear side. The front facing camera has a 2.1MP resolution and you can use gestures to capture selfies.
It comes with Wi-fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1 with Apt-X. It comes with a 3,000 mAh battery and supports rapid charging feature letting you charge your phone from zero to 50 per cent in 40 minutes.
The G Flex 2 will come in Platinum Silver and Flamenco Red colours. The pricing details haven’t been announced yet. It will start selling first in South Korea late next month followed by other countries.
